Pembroke East Detour Over

Hampton Roads Transit's (HRT) buses have returned to using the regular route to access the Pembroke East Transfer Center. During utilities construction on Constitution (still not quite over), four different detour configurations were used.

With this over, will HRT now throw the kitchen sink at fixing Cedar Grove?

This surprised me, but a couple of drivers I spoke to today don't want portos at Cedar Grove. The 20 that brought me from Hilltop to Pembroke even had "20 DOWNTOWN NORFOLK" on the sign. The driver explained, "This way, I don't confuse people"

I rac across two Northside 61s: The first used the "detour" via Jeanne to Corporation. She thanked me when I said, "Use regular route."

Then, as I was waiting on the 36, there was a 61, Bus 2039, who had "61 NNTC via SHIPYARD." I said, "I think you have the wrong sign" since the 2:03 bus does goto Suffolk but NEVER via the Shipyard (Shipyard Express) route

Uh...where do they expect riders (and other drivers) to relieve themselves then? Wet and soil the bus seats themselves?

Puh-leeze, get real!

He told me that he would just walk up to 15th or 18th street. Problem: they are for employees only; what about us passengers. That's why I write "this surprised me".

Well, drivers like that are the biggest reason there is an UCAC. Drivers are supposed to be there to attend to their passengers; they shouldn't be so self-consumed.
