TPPC July 31, 2008

This morning the Transportation, Parking, and Pedestrian Committee (TPPC) of Virginia Beach's Resort Advisory Commission (RAC) met. Preliminary movement was made on three issues.

First, there have been talks about bringing pedicabs to the Resort Area. (They already operate at Town Center.) More information was requested. The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) has a number of concerns about allowing them onto Atlantic Avenue, while the bike path along the Boardwalk is too narrow for two to pass.

Second, a lighting demonstration is to be arranged for the outlying blocks in the Resort Area. White lights, which give off clearer light and are more energy efficient, would replace the yellow lights now used.

Third, there was a discussion on using Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) buses for shuttling convention delegates. Recent regulation changes by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) have tightened use of transit buses for charter purposes. Councilman John Uhrin said chartered motor coaches would be the primary haulers, with HRT supplementing them. Thinking out loud, CCO RAC representative Henry Ryto tossed out an idea for Resort service that would clear the largest FTA hurdle. HRT Vice President of Operations Mike Perry stated it was doable, but can it clear the Resort political minefields?

Henry, why do you write about yourself in the 3rd person - are you trying to pretent you aren't Henry Ryto and you aren't writting this blog?

Typical Messnerism-Greenmunism: Barbara Messner's ideological twin (Reid Greenmun) believes he can dictate political speech.

All hail the Official Spokeperson! Death to free speech!

And why does Henry insist on bringing up the past!? Focus on now Henry. Better yet, take down your blog (and that of your alter-ego "HR Transit Ideas" blog). Learn to respect us and we'll leave you alone. We, the VBTA, are not interested in something voters said NO for.

And when I say no, I mean the light rail referendum...Virginia Beach doesn't need public transit, what a waste. Mr. Greenmun is right: HRT should be abolished.

We. the residents, are not interested in something we've repeatedly voted against: VBTA City Council candidates. We said "No" to Moss, Dean, O'Connor, Krause, Erb, et al. Coming in November: Moss and Shuler get routed.

After reading the VBTA troll's comments on this and the other blog, I have to admit I think it is someone who is enjoying stirring the pot, but probably not really a VBTA person.

Just my opinion, but the comments just sound off to me.
