Transit Day 2009

Today is Transit Day in Virginia, with mass transit advocates from across the Commonwealth converging on Richmond for activities.

Earlier a delegation from our region visited legislators' offices, spearheaded by members of Hampton Roads Transit's (HRT) User Citizen Advisory Committee (UCAC). They delivered a letter from UCAC Chairman Henry Ryto covering a couple points the UCAC wished to have underscored: the need to minimize cuts to Hampton Roads' already inadequate transit system, and the need for support of the pending regional mass transit plan.

Senior HRT Staff will be having dinner with legislators in the capital this evening to push HRT's wish list.

So HRT drove you up there in a bus and paid for lunch & dinner for you?

Bunch of freeloaders!

1. Using a bus in such a manner would be a violation of FTA regulations.

2. Even if the FTA allowed it, union rules would probably prevent a HRT bus driver from making such a run.

3. I wouldn't have posted that from home had I been in Richmond for dinner.

Watch that VBTA Kool-Aid: it will lay waste to your mind.

So HRT DID take you illegally or in a grey area at least

I thought I saw an HRT van in Richmond at a gas station yesterday

Bet they even payed for food for you

You are all freeloaders and now want more!?

Amusing in that the vehicle we took had more than enough gas to make the roundtrip. In addition, p-a-i-d.

Go have another glass of VBTA Kool-Aid.

Oops, so I misspelled. Then explain an HRT van at an East Coast gas station on Hull Street just south of the James River. You must be a bunch of freeloaders begging for money when everyone knows the Commonwealth of Virginia budges is badly in the red (hmm? Gov waste for silly little bus systems taking up space much needed for our cars perhapse?)

BTW, who is the VBTA? I'm not a part of them. I also don't drink Kool-Aid (I prefer Milk thanks)

Keep trying, but there was nothing illegal or gray area about yesterday's trip.
