What Is Going On Here?!?

Former Republican Party of Virginia Beach (RPVB) Chairman Kenny Golden has previously announced his intention to run for Congress as an Independent. In fact, the video is on his website this morning.

However, yesterday afternoon I spotted a Golden for Congress sign on a commercial property of Republican Second District Chairman Gary Byler. (It's on Virginia Beach Boulevard just west of Rosemont Road.) When the Red State Read (the RPVB's official e-mail) came out late last night, it was still soliciting volunteers for Golden's campaign.

What is going on here?!?

Very odd. Golden's defection and obvious support by GOP stalwarts proves that the vote will be split and Nye wins re-election.

Golden is a tenant in the Byler Building. His campaign HQ is on the second floor.

Wally,

Even if that's the case, does his lease grant him the sign position?

In addition, there's still the Red State Read issue.

The republican party is spending too much time fighting amongst each other for this nomination.

Everyone but Loyola and Rigell should drop out because they will be the #1 and #2 (not sure which will be #1). The others have no chance and are just draining money away while Nye continues to raise money.

Unless something drastic happens, the party will be too battered to fight and Kenny will split the votes. Another 2 years as Congressman Nye!

With Kenny being pro-choice, pro-affirmative action, and pro-gay marriage, I see him splitting more votes away from Nye than Rigell. Not to mention he will be the only veteran in the race at that point, so he will get those votes as well. He only needs 34% of the vote for a win while Nye and Rigell will be aiming for 50+1...

Perhaps, the owner of the property, Curly Byler, not Gary, is sympathetic with Golden's positions.

Update:
Golden is moving his HQ to Holland and Plaza TRail near The Animal Jungle Pet Shop. He needed a HQ on the first floor since several volunteers require disability access.
