On Friday morning I was at the Silverleaf Park and Ride. Needing to buy a new bus pass, I realized Silverleaf's customer service representative would be selling them. (I would be passing a couple Farm Fresh locations later in the day that sold them.)
I was stunned when she got out her faremedia box and I saw that it had a stack of the old 30 Day Seniors & Disabled (30 Day ED) farecards. They are in light blue and white. In October, 2008 Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) went to the Go Cards, which are green and white. Given the changeover, HRT hasn't ordered the old ones in about two years. Therefore, I was shocked to see a HRT office still selling them.

Are they still accepted as valid fare media?
If yes, then why complain?
They'd be acceptable...provided that the strip still reads after having been in storage that long.
Had to mention this here I guess.... One morning last week I happened to be on 264W and passing the Supermax bus..... I was shocked to see only a handful of riders.....
Mass transit at it's best.....
"Supermax"?
"Supermax"?
Still not as funny as RAC TPPC's IMAX bus pass
Anon 2:44,
It's the Metro Area eXpress (MAX). Was that Route 960? (The 918 and 919 both do 264 for a short portion.) The problem with the 960 from the beginning is that the route is misconfigured. Myself and others from VB told HRT that from the start, but the only tweak that's been done is to add the convention center stop.
Don't worry: since the 960 uses 264's HOV lanes, it qualifies for special Federal funding. It's actually a cash cow for HRT even when running mostly empty.

So the 960 is wasting taxpayer dollars? (unlike the VBTA, I want transit to succeed, but not wasteful)
You're right Henry....I spoke with one of my passengers from that day and it was in fact the MAX... What was I thinking?
Wasting money and HRT.....two things that bode well together in the same sentence.
Speaking of MAX:
HRT is pleased to announce the 905: Express from 27th & Maple to NNTC to Peninsula Town Center!!!

The big problem is trying to get HRT to admit the configuartion of the 960 is misdrawn. Nearly everyone from Virginia Beach thought Town Center should have been online, but HRT won't budge.
Remember that the 960 as we've known it will come to an end by the time Norfolk LRT comes online, so it's not a long-term problem.
Since there seems to be talk on here about night bus service to TCC Beach, I want to ask honestly: what routes and what times?
I am looking to take night classes starting Fall and need service up General Booth
Anon 3:17,
There are a few scenarios under discussion, but HRT has made no formal announcements yet.
The 33 would get night service in January at earliest.
