Chuck Smith For Congress

Previous Republican Party of Virginia Beach (RPVB) Chairman Chuck Smith has thrown his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for the 2nd Congressional District seat. His website is up http://www.chucksmith2010.com/

Chuck would make for a strong House candidate, certainly better than either of the two other names I've heard mentioned so far.

Who else is considering running?

VB Dems is reporting that Ken Stolle and Frank Wagner are locking horns over the nomination.

I mentioned neither in the original post as I have no one else verifying that story.

Correction... VB Dems is *predicting* Stolle v. Wagner.

I've heard Ron Villanueva as well

Villanueva has big ambitions, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Between Smith & Villanueva in a primary battle, my money would be on Ron.

Chuck fits the district pretty well. African American, Veteran, small business owner. And compared to Senator Stolle, he is very conservative.

LM,

Conservative is the big problem. The voters rejected the conservative incumbent in favor of a moderate democrat.

I think the farther to the right you are, the less chance you have of winning.

Anyone know Villanueava's politics?

Chuck is a retired Navy JAG and Commander and a former Marine. He is an honest guy who has paid his dues to the GOP in Va Beach. He is one of those "common sense" guys we all say we need in Congress, someone to get us back to our Constitutional roots.

Chuck Smith taught my immigration law class a year ago. I still cannot believe he is a licensed attorney. He was condescending and patronizing to all of the students and could not teach if his life depended on it. I wish I could say I respect this man as a former marine and JAG attorney, but all I can think is - "how the hell does he get these jobs in the first place?" No one who wants a competent, respectable candidate representing them should vote for this man.
