Barf Bag!

Late last night John Moss put out an e-mail announcing that he'll be a candidate in the November special election to fill the seat being vacated on the Virginia Beach City Council by Rita Sweet Bellitto.

As Wally Erb would tell John, "No means no." Is the guy so arrogant that he doesn't get the message from election losses in 2004, 2008, and 2010?

First, he has no chance of winning. Second, next time the extremist VBTA complains about government not listening, point out that the VBTA doesn't listen. Rerunning the same retreads with the same stale and rejected message is downright anal.

He isn't the only one running!

"Back in 1999, we voted NO for Light Rail!! No, means NO!!" - resident boobirds, including the vbta

Yet, obviously it doesn't apply to the VBTA. What part of NO do they not get? (laughing)

A crowded field and low turn-out could favor Moss.

All the various groups (NAACP, Chamber, city employees, etc.) need to get behind an anti-Moss candidate and clean his clock again.

Anon 10:20,

It's the African-American Political Action Committee (AAPAC), not the NAACP, that does such contests. (The NAACP is prohibited under it's By-Laws.)

However, I agree on your point: the General Assembly off-year ballot has the lowest turnout of any of the four (it will be lucky to hit 30%). In an even-numbered year, Moss would be DOA. However, he could make this one too close for comfort.

If AAPAC and the Chamber can agree on a candidate, that's great. A Chamber-backed minority candidate would be nearly unbeatable.

If Moss throws his hat in the ring, so will I. Thanks to Henry's advice on this blog, since Sears Holding announced a bleak outlook like they wanted everyone to believe, and the stock has taken a significant dip with SHD now in a major stock repurchase, I am cleaning up on option volatility. Moreover" I have leftover "No means No" signs that are sitting around just waiting to flood the city with another self-financed campaign. Oh, I just love it so!

John....and all the other "former" councilmen should realize that no in fact does mean no...
You didn't get the votes the LAST time you ran, quit pulling a Roger and splitting the votes...
