$3.5 million is being sought in the new Federal Budget for the light rail Study package of the Newtown Road - Dome site and EVMS - Naval Station Norfolk extensions. The House passed their Transportation funding bill...with only $400,000.
It's now up to Virginia's two Senators (Jim Webb and Mark Warner) to try to save the ball that Glenn Nye dropped.

Are you asking for a Federal Handout? What is the differance between the bailouts and the handout you want?
Nye is a Freshman...and I'm very sure he has little power to get folks in 49 other states to support a study that should be a locally funded effort.
1. Such Studies as a rule are Federally funded.
2. Even the VBTA supports studying the Naval base extension.
If you want to take a position to the right of the VBTA, go ahead.
